Country: Lebanon
Participation year: 2015
Maya started All Girls Code, an initiative that introduces girls in Lebanon to STEM and provides them with technical and non-technical skills they need to enter the field. All Girls Code is an initiative, powered by Google Women Techmakers, that aims to provide girls between 12-20 years old hands-on coding experience and empower and encourage them to embark on careers in the STEAM fields. The program fosters coding skills and analytical thinking through different events and mini-projects that demonstrate to the participating girls the benefits of coding in different domains, such as Arts, Storytelling, Medicine, Game Design, and more. It also introduces the participants to several local, regional, and international technology initiatives and conferences that are of help to them as they progress in their careers. Girls who participate in All Girls Code become part of a growing regional network and mentorship program that provides continuous support all year.
They hosted an event in February where girls explored app development, robotics and Arduino, algorithms, and networking. Updates are forthcoming.
