INDONESIA YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2008

This program offers 17 students and 3 teachers the opportunity to develop friendships, and study democratic practices and citizen participation in both in the United States and in Indonesia.

   
Program Dates:
US Program: July 1-30, 2008

   
Teams of 5-6 students and 1 teacher from Indonesian provinces such as Bengkulu, West Java, and West Kalimantan, selected by Center for Civic Education, Jakarta, will participate in this 4 part program.    
 

The 2008 program will involve:

  • Community immersion, during which participants will live with U.S. host families and learn first-hand about community structures and citizen involvement through site visits.

  • Leadership Training segment at Legacy’s Global Youth Village.

  • A Washington, D.C. trip, to learn more about US history, government, and culture.

  • Follow-on component with student-run projects and additional training in Indonesia.
