INDONESIA- YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2006

The 34 students and 5 teachers of IYLP 2006 departed the U.S. in the beginning of July. Upon returning home, they gave presentations about their stay in the U.S. to fellow students at their schools and to their families.  Currently, the students are implementing projects of their own design that address areas of needs they each identified.
For example, teams of students will develop clubs and activities that lead to increased interest in studying, discussion, and improving language skills.  Others looked at various community needs, and how they might increase volunteer efforts to feed the hungry and clothe the poor.

During the U.S. program, IYLP participants experienced and learned all phases of project planning:  such as, developing and implementing an action plan, gaining approval of school or local government officials, monitoring progress against the timeline and goals; adjusting plans as needed, monitoring a budget, publicizing the event or project, and evaluating results.
