Legacy’s summertime Global Youth Village (GYV), in continuous operation since 1979, has enabling youth leaders from many parts of the world to build friendships while they gain the skills to become responsible, involved citizens.  [Legacy’s camp programs are accredited by the American Camping Association.]  Other programs and exchanges have involved teens from across the United States, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kosovo, Central Asia, the Protestant and Catholic neighborhoods of Northern Ireland; youths from the Middle East, Israel and Palestine; and various parts of Nigeria. amid eastSenior partner AMIDEAST is responsible for activities in Iraq (recruiting, selecting, and orienting the Iraqi participants), and for coordinating the US partners.  America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc. (AMIDEAST) is a private, nonprofit organization that strengthens mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa. Every year, AMIDEAST provides English language and professional skills training, educational advising, and testing services to hundreds of thousands of students and professionals in the Middle East and North Africa; supports numerous institutional development projects in the region; and administers educational exchange programs. sister citiesSister Cities International is coordinating the Iraqi students activities in the US.  Sister Cities International member organization is hosting the 2-week U.S. community experience in for Iraqi students.  Sister Cities International (SCI) is a nonprofit citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between U.S. and international communities. SCI strives to build global cooperation at the municipal level, promote cultural understanding and stimulate economic development.  SCI believes that sister city programs involve two-way communication and should mutually benefit partnering communities.   www.sister-cities.org.
