What are the criteria for selection?
We seek an equal number of qualified youth representative of American. Successful applicants will demonstrate the following:
- interest in community service
- demonstrated leadership skill or potential
- understanding of the importance of teamwork
- strong social & communication skills
- maturity & stability
- good academic performance
- flexibility & openness to other cultures

How do I apply?
- Complete an application packet. Submit it by April 7th. ( Early submissions highly recommended).

- Interviews: select applicants will be interviewed, in-person or over the phone.
- The list of finalists will be notified by May 15th, 2008.
- Complete required payment by July 1st, 2008. (See cost information section below.)

Can I apply if I’m an Alumni?
Yes, you are welcome to apply. The selection process is competitive and finalists will be notified in May. |
What does the Program Cost?
* Applicant’s Responsibility: $ 875(covers room, board, tuition, and accident/sickness insurance)
Applicant and his/her sponsors and supporters pay for:
- Transportation to and from the Global Youth Village
- Pocket money
In cases of genuine need, ADDITIONAL PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE MAY BE AVAILABLE. Please inquire. |
What are the Payment Arrangements?
- It costs nothing to apply.
- Upon acceptance, finalists are required to pay $100 by May 30, 2008, as indication of a commitment to participate.
- The balance of $775 is due by July 1, 2008.
- Failure to provide payment constitutes a voluntary withdrawal from the program.
