Program Costs
With the generous support of the US Department of State and other donors to Legacy International, almost all of the costs of this experience are covered. Applying students, their families and sponsors pay only for miscellaneous personal expenses named below.
PART ONE: Pre-departure Orientation and Leadership Training at Global Youth Village
Applicant and his/her sponsors and supporters pay for:
- round trip transportation to and from Washington, D.C. (financial assistance is available for those who qualify)
- $100 commitment fee due upon acceptance by March 30, 2012
Legacy and program sponsors provide:
- bus transportation from Washington, D.C. to and from the GYV site in Bedford, Virginia.
- food and lodging during the program
- accident and sickness insurance (subject to specific limitations)
- all program supervision, activities, materials and supplies; availability of a on-call emergency health care staff
PART TWO: Trip to Indonesia
Applicant and his/her sponsors and supporters pay for:
- obtaining passport, personal luggage, clothing necessary for the trip, etc.
- Transportation from Washington D.C. to home at completion of program.
- pocket money for souvenirs while in Indonesia (a minimum of $50 is recommended)
- Any airline fees for overweight luggage or second suitcase
Legacy and program sponsors provide:
- pre-departure orientation program (PDO) at the Global Youth Village
- air transportation to and from Washington D.C. to Surabaya, Indonesia
- costs related to obtaining entrance visas to Indonesia
- all travel, lodging, and meals during air travel and within Indonesia
- accident and sickness insurance (subject to specific limitations)
- all program activities including educational events, service projects, group cultural events, educational materials, adult escorts and supervision, etc.
It costs nothing to apply.
